The drive to perform at an extremely high level can be a contributing factor when a person develops an eating disorder. Psychologist Tasha Belix explains why perfectionism takes root, especially in young people, and how it affects the mind and body. She suggests ways to develop self-compassion and to support loved ones who struggle with perfectionism.

Before becoming the director of Tasha Belix Psychology, Tasha worked as an adolescent addiction counselor and a play therapist for youth experiencing depression. She is also the founder and director of B’tween Girls Programs, a therapeutic group for girls aged 8 to 15, and contributes to Fast and Female, a mentoring program where acclaimed female athletes help girls build confidence through sporting activities. Tasha co-authored a children’s book about emotional awareness in 2019.
